Year of Action: Knitting

I totally just picked up knitting needles again.  My grandmother taught me sometime between 3rd and 5th grade, but I never thought anything knitted could be modern-beautiful.  Until I picked up the needles to start making some newborn hats and found some great books and Ravelry (which is kind of like a cross between Pinterest and blogging and a pattern library).  Plus knitting is a craft which I can do while feeding boy and reading blogs... which isn't something I can do with sewing or quilting.
  • Knit myself a pair of handwarmers.  Typing at a computer, knitting, and sewing equals lots of cold hands :)  (and after mine are finished it looks like I'm knitting two more pair for the girls who are obsessed with mine!)
  • Knit myself this funky Coif pattern.  Pretty and perfect for ponytail and updo days.  (I love it!)

  • Make some knitted baskets.  I have two different patterns.  One that will use yarn from sweaters I've unraveled and one that I really like that uses cut up thrift-ed sheets as yarn!

  • Make 2 Monica Tanks for the girls from yarn unraveled from sweaters my grandmother made that are now too small.

  • Make 1 Miette Sweater for me from yarn thrifted from a sweater that my grandma made me that I didn't love

  • Attempt this Shalom sweater with some yarn I won during a giveaway.
  • Knit some hats for my photography business and some to give away to the NICU. I did a couple last month with yarn I already had and can probably do a few more pretty quickly.
  • Make Cupcakes with the scraps to give away (or keep) at the girl's tea party.
  • Consider attempting these tights for the girls for Fall. This is the only project I would have to buy yarn for!

  • Consider Knitting these legwarmers/leggings for me (also would have to buy yarn for these).

I had my first knitting lesson today! Hopefully I will be able to make some fun projects like you before too long.
